God Be With You Till We Meet Again

As I am writing this post for the blog the movers are here packing us up.
We don't actually leave until Thursday, but because everything is being packed up, including my computer, it is time to bring this blog to a close.

Thank you for reading the blog. I hope it has kept you informed as to what is happening
in the mission.  I have loved and appreciated your comments.

I can't help but get emotional as I think about the past three years.
We have loved serving in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission.

We want you, as parents, to know how much we love your sons and daughters.
We have seen miracles take place in the lives of the people they have taught.
However, I think the greatest miracles we have seen take place are the miracles of
conversion and growth within the elders and sisters as they have served and
been dedicated to the Lord.

The work that we are doing is the Lord's work and we have seen His hand
involved daily in the things that we do.
I am so thankful for this opportunity to serve.
I understand now how the missionaries feel as they are so close to the end. There are such mixed emotions. There are feelings of excitement to go home and be with family and anticipation for the next chapter of life.
At the same time, it is sad to leave behind something that you love.

We are excited as we think about going home and becoming reacquainted with our
children and  grandchildren.
We are so thankful for our family and for the great support that they have been to us.
We look forward to the next chapter in our lives.

Our grandchildren (another one due in October)

We express our love to you as parents and family of those who have become part of our
extended family, the missionaries.   We express our love to each missionary that we have
had the blessing of working with.

God Be with You Till We Meet Again.

  2. Thank you Sister Black. You'll be missed by not only the Elders and Sisters, but also by their parents that have benefitted so much by having you both watch over, guide and support our sons and daughters. The Jones family wishes you only the best, and we hope to see you again soon.

Thank you Sister Black for posting pictures and keeping us up to date with mission activities. Without the pictures that you've posted, I wouldn't recognize my son (who conveniently fails to include any pictures of himself in his letters home!)

Thank you to you and President Black for working with our missionaries! Good luck as you return to your home.

  5. What a blessing you have been to our family!! For teaching and guiding our son and got providing this wonderful opportunity to know more of their activities. Elder Zachary told me today in his email that he has been so emotional with y'all leaving so soon and the end of his mission coming so soon. What a blessed people we are to have such wonderful experiences in serving The Lord. Thank you for your dedicated service to our son. We love you both:)

Thank you for this blog. I've enjoyed keeping up with all the wonderful things you do for the missionaries. I look every week to see if there is anything or pictures of my grandson. Elder Braydon Cook. I have collected everyone of them for a scrap book for him. I pray that the next president and his wife will keep this blog going. May God be with you.

  9. We cannot thank you enough for caring for our Elder these last 10 months and the blog has been such a wonderful way to feel so connected to the work that is going on there in Las Vegas. Thank you for taking the time to keep us all updated!! We wish you and President Black all the best in your return home to your family. I hope we are able to meet one day and thank you in person.

  10. I was very surprised to see a moving truck as the main photo as I scanned some of my favorite sites and realized, that the truck must be for you and President Black! We've just been getting to know each other over the phone the past few weeks and now you're leaving?! ;-) Time just flies by, doesn't it? I have to give you, Sister Black, my deepest thanks as a mother, for the help you've been to our Elder these past few weeks with his health challenges. You've been so wonderful giving us even more of your precious time, particularly since you're packing and finishing up your own mission. But we thank you sincerely and wish we could hug you in person.
I've thanked you for the blog before, but I have to thank you again and again as it is such a joy to check here and see pictures and know what's happening. I've felt so connected and I know this blog is why - thank you. My parents served a mission a couple of years ago and I understand the mixed feelings, but with all those adorable grandkids waiting to see you, I'm sure you'll be swept right up in the hugs and kisses. We wish you the best in your next endeavors and again sincerely thank you for your example, leadership and service to our son and all the missionaries of the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. With love and gratitude, Sister Lisa Kaelberer

Sister Black, we too have loved having the blog to feel connected to our son and what is happening in the mission. He never mentions even half of what we gleam through the blog. We love seeing all the pictures of the Elders and Sisters and putting names to faces of those he has served with and has grown to love. We are grateful for all the love and concern our son received with his health challenges last year and after his short return home. I just hope the time continues to go by quickly as we pass his original departure date :). Thank you for the time and dedication you and President Black have given to all the missionaries under your care. You will both be truly missed. We wish you the best as you return to you home in Utah and your family.

  17. President and Sister Black,
Words can not express our family's gratitude for all you have done to bless the lives of the missionaries serving with you. This blog has been amazing. Elder Hoskins hasn't been too interested in taking or sending home pictures, so we have relied on the blog to catch wonderful glimpses of him, as well as the other missionaries he's served with. Thank you! Will these pictures stay posted? I want to go through and make sure I've downloaded many of them. Also, how can I get them in full resolution? I treasure so many of them. Thank you both again so much.

    God bless,
    Sue Hoskins

  19. My son has only been. On his mission for three months,
England seems so far away, and I want to thank you so much for bridging the gap,
And the comfort we have felt simply by the touch of a button, it connected us with his mission,

You both have given so much, and the sacrifice which all your family have endured is appreciated
I would like to share with you one of my favourite things,
    Known as an Irish blessing

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
May God hold you in the palm of his hands

May God be with you and bless you,
May you see your children's children,
May you be poor in misfortune,

    Rich in blessings
,may you know nothing but happiness, from this day forward,
May the warm rays of sun fall on your home and may the hand of a friend always be near
May the green be the grass you walk on
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you

    The Kennedy's

May true be the hearts that love you,
