So long....Farewell!

Last night we had a dinner and a testimony meeting as we prepared to tell another group of missionaires farewell. What a wonderful opportunity to listen as everyone bore testimony and shared highlights of their mission. A little later we played some games, and we were all amazed as we watched Elder Richards do some his magic. This morning we loaded up early and headed for the airport. Again, it was bittersweet as
we said good-bye some great missionaires whom we have come to love. We wish you the best!

New Missionaries!

Another group of new missionaries arrived this morning.  We are excited to have them join our Nevada Las Vegas West Mission family. They are excited to be here. After experiencing a full day of orientation, they will spend the evening with a companionship of Elders or Sisters, go to dinner at a member's home and then have the opportunity to teach a lesson. Tomorrow morning they will meet their new companions, find out where they will be serving and will be off on an adventure that will change the rest of their lives.

During interviews with all of the missionaries last week I asked them to share with me some words of advice, wisdom, counsel or one liners that their mom's shared with them.  As these new missionaries were filling out other papers this morning I also asked them to do the same.
Sister Woznow (from my loving sister,) - "Expect miracles.  You also wear the name of the Savior on your shoulder, be sure to really get to know Him."
Elder Wood - "Portion control (amount of food)!  Exercise!
Pray and read your scriptures.
Elder Quintana - Take a shower everyday!!
Elder Reyes - "Work as if I was standing right nex to you!"
Elder Ferris - You are the jewels in my crown.  Love every moment.
Come back with no regrets. Love the people.
Elder Packard - Always be obedient.
Elder Barton - Do not doubt......Your mother knows best!
Elder Anderson - Love the people you teach.
Elder Austin - "It's all right, I know the way."
I'm not homesick yet, I love you mom.

Are We Seeing Double?

Sometimes as we look at some of the missionaires we have to do a double take.
Who is it that we are looking at?
We have (or have had) a few look-a-likes walking around!

New Leadership

With a transfer comes change ..... companionships change, areas of service change, new missionaries come, missionaries leave to go home. The last transfer brought many changes in mission leadership. We have a new Assistant to the President, some new Zone Leaders, some new District Leaders and some new Trainers. We appreciate so much those who have served in these assignments in the past and welcome those who have just been called to serve in new assignments. It takes the entire army of missionaries for the work to go forward. We love and appreciate each Elder and Sister in the mission and the work and the effort that they each put forth as they share the gospel.

Elder Rice and Elder Hill are the Assistants to President Black

March ... A Great Month!

During the month of March the mission achieved a new record for baptisms. There were 112 baptisms that took place in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. We welcome all those who are new converts to the Church. We have seen miracles take place and lives change as people accept and live the gospel.
