Adiós y buena suerte

Elders Williams, Cather and Wankier finally, after almost three months serving in  this mission, received their visas.  They are on their way to Mexico to the missions where they have been called to serve.  We loved having them here and wish good luck as they go serve the Lord

in the Mexico Guadalajara and the Mexico Leon Missions.

12 Week Training Program

 Because the responsibility to train a new missionary is so important and because the trainer has such a profound and lasting influence of a new missionary's attitude, habits, and ability to fulfill his or her purpose, each each new missionary companionship is asked to implement a program allowing for an additional 60 minutes to be spent in companion study for the first 12 weeks of the new missionary's mission. The program has a training schedule that will include study from Preach My Gospel, watching DVDs that have been provided, and applying the training model through role playing; to explain, demonstrate, practice, evaluate and repractice. 

Meetings are held for the trainer before the new missionary comes to the mission to teach how to apply the program. Once the new missionary and the trainer are together for a few days, there is another meeting held to train the companionship together and to share their teaching and learning opportunities.and experiences.   Those who have used this program have thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the training that it provides for both the new missionary and the senior companion.

Zone Leader Council -- August 2012

Zone Leader Council was held Thursday, August 9th. This is a meeting where all the zone leaders are brought together to be trained, to set goals, and to discuss what is

happening throughout the mission in the differnet zones. With the transfer that just

took place this past week many changes have taken place. There is a new assistant and also

a number of new zone leaders. Another big change is that

there were three new zones created in the mission. This brings

the number of zones up to nine. The zones are: Highland Hills,

Lakes, Las Vegas, Lone Mountain, Mesquite, Redrock, South,

Spring Mountain, and Tule Spirngs.

This week was transfers.
Once again.....

Once again it is time to say good-bye to a great group of missionaries. These Elders and Sisters have served with us from the beginning of our mission and throughout their entire mission. Thank you for your service here in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. As you each go home and start a new chapter in your book of life we hope the experiences that you have had here in the mission will be a strong foundation for the rest of your lives. We love you!

As I stared out the window
the tears still in my eyes,
I saw the vision of those I love
as we said our last good-byes.

The ride was long and trying
as two questions plagued my mind,
"Do I want the life that's up ahead,
Or the one I left behind?"

Two years is such a long, long time
for going door to door.
In my reflecting I thought to myself,
"There really must be more."

I dragged myself down off the plane
and stared smiling at the beach,
When a man turned me the other way
saying, "Elder, go find and teach."

I sit reflecting once again
as this day is my last.
Please Lord, this isn't fair,
the time goes by so fast.

As I stare out the window

Wow! What a great group of missionaries!

We had the largest group of missionaries we have ever had arrive

in the mission come this week.....25 new Elders and 3 new Sisters!

We are excited to have them here and excited for the enthusiasm

that they brought with them!

We love them already!

It was quite a job making sure we got all of

 everyone's luggage.

 Next step was trying to fit it all into the trailer!
